Choose Your Room
The 5 rooms - are individually furnished and named after aspects of the history of the house. The size of the rooms are from 18 to 30 square metres. All have bar fridge, heat pump and an en suite. The en suites in the Clifford and Vavasour Rooms are Edwardian style with timber and glass paneling and are incorporated within the room. (This design, although unusual to some, is to meet the requirements and protocols of Category 1 and 2 heritage listed buildings.) These rooms have either direct access to the garden (Clifford) or easy access ( Vavasour and Awatere.) with garden views.
Clifford Room
The huge Clifford Room has a modern Super King Bed and French doors that open on to the veranda and lawn. A feature of this lovely room is the superbly carved fireplace and over mantle.
Awatere Room
The Awatere bedroom has a Super King Bed that can be split into a Twin. It boasts as its en suite, the huge pressed metal (zinc) heritage bathroom with original claw foot bath but which also has a modern walk in shower. The bathroom windows overlook the lawn and there is easy access to the garden.
Vavasour Room
Originally the library, the romantic and tranquil Vavasour bedroom has tall casement windows that overlook the lawn and there is easy access to the garden. The bed is a modern King Bed.
Chevalier Room
Located in the centre of the house the Chevalier Room is named after Henry Vavasour's award winning barley in Europe and has a romantic French theme with a Queen bed - the windows look into the central courtyard and the warm afternoon sun graces this room.
